Bayside City Council tonight voted 7-0 to continue management of
mistletoe on street trees but made this subject to maintaining a
sustainable mistletoe population including a substantial number
of fruiting plants. A pretty good result.

Many thanks to all those who helped. Please contact me if you
are facing a similar issue in your municipality and we will do
what we can to help you.

Incidentally I have not received any observations of introduced
bird species feeding on mistletoe in Australia and David Watson
of Charles Sturt Uni. tells me he is aware of only one of our
introduced bird species feeding on mistletoes anywhere - Tree
Sparrows are known to do so in Europe.
