Northern Duck Moult

Hi Aus-Birders

If my memory serves me correctly ducks in the northern hemisphere should be
actively moulting in late August. However, it appears that the recent
sightings in the Grafton area refer to birds that are not actively
moulting, although those reporting such sightings apper to be resolutely
avoiding this issue.

I for one would have been very interested to go and see these birds if they
appeared to have recently arrived from the Northern Hemisphere. Could
someone please enlighten us on this matter?

cheers
Milburn
