Hello All

Indeed so, Jon. It was Eric Hosking, a legend in bird photography, who passed on a few years ago. The owl concerned was a Tawny Owl, if my memory serves me well, one of the Strigidae, the family that includes our Ninox owls e.g. Powerful Owl. The local bloke that got a talon up the snout got off lightly!

Gooday all,
Didn't a British birdo write a book titled "An eye for a bird".
I cannot recall the author but believe he lost his eye during a nest
recording visit at an Owls nest in England. He then went on to do a great
deal of work on that bird family.
