Hello all.

I have determinedly kept out of this discussion and,
in philosophical terms, that will remain the case. I
have been assiduously exercising my index finger on
the delete key to this point but I have been away for
a few days and on opening up my email, couldn't
believe this debate was STILL in full swing. So
curiosity got the better of me and I have opened a few
of them up.

This is supposed to be a bird site, as Ray Kelly
pointed out. However, I have no problem with people
discussing conservation issues which are relevant to
bird lovers. I have undoubtedly strayed off the beaten
track on occasions on this forum, so I'm probably in
no position to point accusing fingers at anyone.

What I DO have a problem with the level of petty and
at times insulting level of abuse that is being thrown
about by some of the protagonists and professional
agitators. Since they have been so eager to stick the
boot in themselves, let's name a few names and
embarrass them shall we? To Lorne Johnson, David
Parker and especially Scott O'Keefe: please tone it
down; if you want attack people online, there's no
need to share your personal vindictiveness with other
birding-aus subscribers. Scott, you wrote:

You should perhaps heed your own advice.

I agree the veg/carnivore debate might be one worth
having... once. It makes me sleepy though. Zzzzzzz.

Thank you and goodnight.
