In the NSW central coast (just a little north of Sydney), during winter I have seen many rainforest species feed on Privet - many Regent Bowerbirds (upto atleast 40 birds) and Satin Bowerbirds, Green Catbirds, White-headed Pigeons (upto 100 birds), Brown cuckoo-doves, Wonga Pigeons (perhaps) Figbirds, Olive-backed Orioles, Lewins Honeyeaters, Red-whiskered Bulbuls and lesser numbers of Emerald Doves, Brown-cuckoo Doves and other birds regularly feed on the berries from June - August in this area. I have never seen the Topknot Pigeons feed on them though. A male Superb Fruit-dove was also seen feeding here a few years ago aswell. It would be worth a detailed study if these birds do get affected by eating these berries. However of the last 5 years, I have not noticed any population change with the above mention species in this area.
