G'day all

I have to share this with you.

Home for lunch today I wandered around the back garden. A few Superb
Fairy-wrens were hopping around. Lovely to see them. They pop in from
time to time. We are in a suburban area but back onto the Grange Burn
(creek) with good vegetation. Then I spotted a Red-browed Finch. There
was possibly a second but I didn't see them both at once. It drank from
the birdbath which has been in the middle of a new garden bed for a couple
of months. It's the first bird of any species I have seen use this
birdbath. Very pleasing! The back garden is 99% native shrubs.

We had a brief (5 minute) visit from 6 Red-browed Finches on 8th April
1990. I've never seen them along the Grange Burn or anywhere else in the
general area. Goodness knows where they come from. Some sort of autumn
dispersal?

Cheers

Steve
