Hi Birders,

Andy Burton is correct when he says that 15 March is a late departure date for Channel-billed Cuckoos particularly for the Sydney Region. Set out below are the departure dates as per the NSW Annual Bird Reports 1990-1997

1990    14/2/90 Normanhurst
1991    16/3/91 Pearl Beach near Umina, a juvenile
1992    11/3/92 Helensburgh, a juvenile
1993    20/3/93 Newcastle
1994    3/3/94 Cordeaux Heights
1995    6/3/95 Austinmer
1996    10/2/96 Mitchell park, Cattai a juvenile
1997    10/3/97 Sawtell, a juvenile

Incidentally, John McLennan at Orangegrove, Woy Woy had a Koel Cuckoo feeding in his persimmon tree today but Koels tend to be later departing than Channel-bills.
