Hi David

I think the issue of range is not such an issue here.  Your description
sounds like a reasonably good one of a Sacred Kingfisher.  SCs can be very
"blue & white" on occasions - I've seen a few in northern Victoria that
superficially resemble FKs.  The loral spot on SKs is sometimes whitish
rather than buff.  The absence of wingspots on your bird is significant.
The call is the other key - "kek-kek......" is classic Sacred K.
