Forest Kingfisher in Ormiston Gorge Nat'l Park?

David,

There is a lot of variation in the colour of Sacred Kingfishers, both
upperparts and underparts. Some are quite white underneath. The absence of
white in the wings indicates you saw a Sacred and the call you described is
exactly that of a Sacred.

During the course of a walk the other morning at Sun Valley (in the Blue
Mountains NSW), we saw about a dozen Sacred Kingfishers and some members of
my group expressed surprise that they were all the same species.
