In my early birding days, I had a lot of trouble with what turned out to
be ReedWarblers. 1, they were seldom and briefly visible; 2, all they
said was 'Chak!' and 3, they were there all winter. I called them the
Maddening Reed Bird. They were much easier in spring. These days of
course I know perfectly well that they are the Glamorous Reed Warbler
<g> and I wish they still lived in our local park.
