Hi Everyone,

We went birding to Mitchell Park, west of Sydney, NSW this morning. While
having a cup of tea at a picnic table with a good view of the river, a Black
Bittern slowly flapped by, with full sun on it. Nice start to the year's
list I thought. Other nice birds seen were: Channel-billed Cuckoo, Brush
Cuckoo, Cicadabird, and a few MBMs (magic birding moments).

A Laughing Kookaburra flew up to a branch with a 300mm long snake in its
bill. Wiggle, wiggle and two gulps and it was gone. Two male Variegated
Fairywrens in breeding plumage sat together preening. They waited long
enough to get some photos. A female Common Bronzewing was sitting down on
the track. It walked up some steps and posed in full sunlight with its
wings dazzling in the sunlight. More full frame photos. Love it!

Good birding everyone
