The only book I know to provide illustrations of the birds of the Bismarcks and Admiralties (including New Britain) is the very large and expensive Birds of Papua New Guinea by Brian Coates, and it does not show all species. I agree that this is a serious lacuna - it is now probably the only major area in the world for which no guide or handbook of any kind exists (though we desperately need a modern guide to the Philippines, and Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia are covered only by books on South America as a whole - a new book on Peru is due next year).
