G'day All

I returned to-day after three days camping at Wandown Reserve (Mallee
Reserve in North West Victoria). The weather is warming up, but there has
been recent good rain and the bush looked good - a lot of plants flowering -
quite a few wildflowers. The birding was excellent, and though the eruption
south of the special inland birds is beginning to recede, they are still
there in small numbers - even continuing to breed. There were about 70
species seen, the highlights were the Pied and Black Honeyeaters, (both with
young fledgings), Crimson Chats (several nests with eggs in them), a
Malleefowl regularly working its mound, White-fronted Chats and the special
birds of the Mallee such as the Chestnut Quail-thrush, Mulga Parrot, Regent
Parrot, Buderigar, Ringneck, Splendid Fairy-wren and Variegated Fairy-wren.
The total list is below.
