Threatened birds on Cape York - December 1999 Survey
Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for bird surveys in the vicinity of Princess
Charlotte Bay in December this year. This work is part of a Queensland
Parks and Wildlife Service project to locate populations of threatened
birds on Cape York funded by the Natural Heritage Trust. Most survey
sites will need to be accessed by helicopter. All data will be
contributed to the Atlas of Australian Birds and time permitting,
surveys for other fauna will be undertaken and the records submitted to
NatureSearch.

Accommodation will be at the Lotus Bird Lodge from 4 to 19 December.
The Lodge will be closed to other visitors at that time of the year but
we will have access to the kitchen, bathrooms, rooms for swagging etc.
We hope that some participants will be able to stay for the duration of
the surveys but if you can only spare a week we will try to arrange
things accordingly.

The cost to participants will be in the vicinity of $20 per head per day
to cover food and accommodation. People will need to provide their own
transport to and from Lotus Bird Lodge but for volunteers coming from
other regions there may be space available in vehicles travelling from
Cairns and Atherton.

We are hoping to have about 20 people taking part in the surveys each
day. If you are interested in taking part please contact Amanda Freeman
