birding-aus Capitalising bird names

I see evidence that bird people capitalise, non bird people are less 
likely to. So, books and journals that are specifically bird-related, 
and for birdwatchers, by birdwatchers, would generally have 
capitals for common names; those that seem not to care that a 
Black Kite is not a black kite are more likely not to have capitals.
I personally find it irritating to see literature where the bird names 
are not capitalised. I also find this literature harder to read since 
the names don't stand out. Luckily for me, the literature that I think 
is mostly worth reading uses capitals.
