Working at sea with the Southern Oceans Seabird Study Association E of Wollongong over last weekend we observed a Blue Petrel and a Southern Fulmar on Saturday July 17 and 2 Kerguelen Petrel on Monday July 19. All of these observations were made beyond the contintal shelf. Additionally, on Monday we observed 2 Grey Teal feeding on the surface some 5 NM out to sea. The birds were feeding on a weedline at the boundary between the run-off from the recent heavy rain and the clear water.
