While in the garden earlier in the week I observed and heard some 15 Little Ravens and 2 or 3 Australian Ravens in and near a tree just up the road from our home (less than 100m).

An individual would softly call for about 5 seconds. This was just audible from where I stood. This was immediately followed by very raucous calling from all of the assembled birds for 5-10 seconds and then there was silence for 10 - 30 seconds. This was followed by the soft calling which was again followed by loud calling from all. This sequence was repeated many times over the next 15  minutes or so, before all flew off in various directions.

What were they doing???    (It almost sounded like a conversation.)
