Dear Ros,
I would have replied before but was not sure you wanted material from
distant Victoria.
May I suggest
'Birds of Heidelberg and the Yarra Valley'
published by Warringal Conservation Society Inc in 1981 and still
valuable.
Text by WCS members inc the late Howard Jarman and Reg Johnson.
Foreword by Graham Pizzey.
Available for only $6.00 plus postage.
80 species illustrated (line drawings by Rex Davies, Ralph Keller,
Andrew Plant and Mark Reilly) plus much useful text, inc birdlist.
Paperback, 116 pp. Size c. 21 X 14.5 cms.
An excellent beginner's book and local guide, very well reviewed when
it appeared.
Contact The Secretary, Warringal Conservation Society Inc., P.O.Box 64
Rosanna, 3084.
Yes, I suppose this is an advertisement. But if QOSI are interested,
others might also like it. And it really is good value for money.

The Gould League series Birds of Southeastern Australia is
excellent - 7 vols arranged by habitat - most are now unfortunately
out of print. Search second hand shops.Warning - coloured print
on sized paper - don't get them wet!

Anthea Fleming, Hon. Sec. Warringal Conservation Society Inc.
  See our website <www.possumpages.com.au/warringal>

 - where we are getting some rain at last.
