I didn't see the program to which Cilla is referring. However, the March
issue of Wingspan includes a 16 page supplement entitled "Renaissance on
Lanark". It is about the changes to wildlife especially birdlife on a
farming property ("Lanark") in the Western District of Victoria since 1963.
Sounds to me like the same place as featured on TV (the cynic in me says
that it wouldn't be happening in two different places).
The family involved are the Fentons - John & Cicely and their children.
Around the time they began, the Lanark bird list was less than 40 species.
Today it is 155 species and growing. The Fentons and their advisors have
done a tremendous job and I hope they prosper financially, spiritually and
in every other possible way, and that the news of their prosperity spreads
far and wide. Their story is an inspiring one.
The Wingspan magazine is sent to all members of Birds Australia. Copies
are possibly available in some libraries and from some bird clubs.

| About a week and a half ago there was a programme on a 30 year
| project of monitoring the return of birdlife to a property (perhaps
| in Victoria? Perhaps involving someone called Alan....?). If anyone
| saw this program and has any more details, could you contact me
| direct as I would like to follow this up. It was on Gardening
| Australia (but they don't seem to have a web page).

| Thanks
