Hi all, I sympathise with Chris Dahlberg,Thomas & Thomas gave a none to complimetary report on Brisbane pelagics without apparently doing too much research! However the latest Wheatley book I have been informed corrects this,we now go out from Southport so the long trip across Moreton Bay has been eliminated.The following notes should whet a few appetites, approx.50 kilometres east of Southport Qld.on the Continental Slope,final chumming site;
  • Tahiti Petrel - 5
  • Providence Petrel - 14
  • Great winged Petrel - 2
  • Black Petrel - 1
  • Wedge tailed Shearwater - 1
  • Flesh footed Shearwater - 1
  • Wilson's Storm Petrel - 8
This is not the full trip numbers.Many people even regulars,commented on the outstanding views of the Tahitis as they more than held their own against the larger Petrels to get at the fish and offal off the stern of the vessel.The Black Petrel was a first for a Sea world pelagic and will be submitted to B.A.The  next trip is on the 22nd of May and no, I can't guarantee Tahiti Petrel, most of them would have left by then.Cheers - Paul Walbridge.
