Dear All

I have been asked by one of my very enthusiastic Regent Honeyeater
volunteers about web-sites that he might be able to use as a vehicle for a
project he has.

Russ Watts of Barraba in northern NSW has been working on establishing a
"Bird Routes of the Barraba District" project and promoting eco-tourism in
that district. He sees this as one way to promote Regent Honeyeaters and
their conservation in this area. So far he has had very favourable
responses. The local council has erected "Welcome to Barraba" signs at the
entrance to the town proclaiming to be "Regent Honeyeater habitat" and
several local businesses have taken on the Regent Honeyeater theme.

Russ' Bird Routes are mainly in old Travelling Stock Reserves with
excellent examples of the original box-ironbark woodland, including White
Box and Mugga Ironbark. A number of bird groups have already visited the
area with favourable reviews.

Russ has asked whether their is a web site somewhere where information
about this project might be made available.

Any takers.
