Dear All,

While on the topic of interesting observations in inner city
Melbourne (see Jack Krohn & Martin O'Brien 23/2), I recently
stumbled across a nesting roost of Darters (20 birds - 8
Adults/12 Young) near the Kew Golf Club. The roost, which
is obviously a permanent breeding site, was a voracious
assemblage of Darters, Pied and Black Cormorants. If anyone
would like details please contact me.

In terms of house renovations, while relaying the brick
paving of my Northcote weatherboard I stumbled across some
very suspicious looking bones. After ten minutes of digging
I was able to identify them as canine. Although I was
relieved that they weren't human I was perturbed as to why
someone chose to bury a very large dog outside my back door!

Cheers,

Tim
