Okay,okay,South Island Pied Oystercatcher(Haematopus finschi) so enough of the smart comments.Anyway,we have here on our doorstep for those fortunate enough to get there,a great opportunity in improving our skills in wader identification.If you have read Mike Carter's article in Australian Birding on the possibility of this species turning up here in Oz then you'll know  what I mean.Twitching aside,I had a great day slogging my guts out on remote beach,the scenery was great and photos of the bird probably better,with comparison shots of the two species side by side.Thankyou Bo for showing the nescessary skills needed for detecting this bird in the first place.Any replies,Paul Walbridge.
