Hi everybody -

There seem to be many of interesting ideas and much enthusiasm for having
more twitchathon-type birding activities. I am personally in favour of
anything that will increase funding for bird conservation or increase
public awareness of, and participation in, bird monitoring and study.

The Atlas team here is (unsurprisingly) keen that any such events be
Atlas-compatible. In fact there is little reason why new structured or
sporting birding activities could not add multiple layers of value through:

Fundraising for conservation
Public awareness and education
Research and monitoring
Plus giving pleasure and excitement to many people

Let the ideas roll in.
Cheers, Hugo.
