The typical barking call is a familiar sound in the Capertee Valley,
central NSW. Have heard the screaming call on several occasions and am
often asked by Capertee Valley residents about it. Most Sydney birders are
aware of the official "sacrificial" Barking Owls at Glen Alice. During my
time in the valley I become aware of about five other pairs on private
property where access is generally denied.

What is likely to happen to these birds, and the many Little Eagles, when,
and if, the rabbit numbers crash in this valley. Their traditional small
mammalian prey is long extinct.
