Bird Watchers! You have the opportunity to join our scientific tour of
forest, wetland, and sea bird habitats in the British Virgin Islands,
organised through ELM Beach Suites, Cane Garden Bay, Tortola. Contact us
DIRECTLY at ; tel 284-494-2888. Details follow:
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is an archipelago of forty mountainous
islands, rocks and cays locally known as "nature's Little Secrets". These
islands, their forests, their rocky cliffs, and their coastal wetlands, are
home to a great variety of tropical birds, from elegant white-tailed tropic
birds to graceful Caribbean flamingos.
This is the first tour ever organised taking bird watchers through remote
habitats and national parks of the BVI in comfort and with expert guidance.
In addition to exotic bird sightings, participants are assured top-quality
accommodations and opportunities to enjoy activities such as snorkeling,
swimming, live evening entertainment, restaurants, and Caribbean beach
bars.
Light to moderate hikes through a range of bird habitats, from rain forests
to dry forests and wetlands to sea cliffs, are scheduled for each day.
Participants will enjoy informative slide lectures and social times for
comparing notes with scientists and other bird enthusiasts. Scientists
Christina Leahy, an expert on birds of prey, and Lianna Jarecki, a mangrove
wetland ecologist and expert on BVI natural history, will serve as guides,
lecturers, and will always be on hand for questions and other assistance.
Cost
A fee of $1200 per person, based on double occupancy, covers accommodation,
field trips, lectures, ferries, boat charter, flight to Anegada, taxis,
field guides to local birds, daily continental breakfast, snacks and drinks
in the field, and a final dinner celebration. It does not include airfare
to Tortola. We recommend that you book your flights through a travel agent
in your area.
A 25% deposit, received by June 15th, is required to reserve your place in
