Intelligence in Magpie Larks?
Funny you mentioned it. During a stay at Karumba (Gulf of Carpentaria, Qld)
in 1995 we had a Magpie Lark coming around to a fish & chip shop (not
Pauline Hansen's) and while walking on the patio clearly said 'hello' to
everyone. That happened several times and every day during our 4 day stay.
We were amazed, as that was the first time I heard of a talking Magpie Lark.
Of course it was a female.
And Anne, I took once photos of a Magpie Lark on side mirror of a parked
vehicle in the Kimberleys. It sent a good half an hour looking at itself.
Aren't they amazing 'Monarch Flycatchers'?!?
Happy birding, Klaus
