The one to get is the new "Field Guide to the Birds of New Zealand" by
Barrie Heather and Hugh Robertson, illustrated by Derek Onley. Published by
Viking, ISBN 0 670 86911 2.

It is superb. The layout is similar to Simpson and Day, which is not
surprising given they have the same publisher. But there is a reference
section with more descriptive text for each species somewhat like Pizzey.

If you can't get it from BOCA or Birds Australia, Andrew Isles will almost
certainly have it.

Cheers
