Dear Steve,

A collaborative project between QUT and the QLD Dept. of Environment and
Heritage has embarked on a DNA typing project to monitor the legal and
illegal trade in wildlife in QLD. To effectively achieve this aim, we will
need to build a good database from different geographical populations of
our target species, the first group including black cockatoos,
golden-shouldered parrot and green python.

I would like to course a request through your directory for the possible
provision to us of blood samples (or any available tissue) from any of the
target species mentioned above, with information on species, location, and
sex (if known). Samples comprising a family would be most welcome.

We look forward to receiving any information and assistance from the
members. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Julie Macaranas
