G'day all

I couldn't possibly list my favourite species so I thought I would list a
few species that are only known from field guides:

1. Letter-winged Kite
2. Grey Falcon
3. Lewin's Rail
4. Painted Snipe
5,6,7 All Phalaropes
8. Fig-Parrot
9. Ground Cuckoo-Shrike
10. Atherton Scrubwren

I've spent hours, days, weeks looking for these in the places they are
supposed to be found and have concluded that they don't really exist. Of
course I could be wrong as in the last couple of years I've managed to
find a few other species I'd previously classified in the same way (Ruff,
Freckled Duck, Ground Parrot, Buff-banded Rail, Common Tern, Origma,
Gouldian Finch).

Like all true skeptics I won't believe until I see for myself.

Just thought of one of my all time favourite oz birds - Red-backed
Fairy-Wren - I barrack for Essendon.

Cheers

Steve
