Hi all,
I just spent the weekend at Rushworth State Forest (Box-Ironbark forest,
approx. 110 km North of Melbourne, Victoria) doing some fauna survey work
with the Field Naturalists Club of Vic. Highlights of the weekend included
good views of Chestnut-rumped Hylacola, and seeing a few emus throughout the
forest (they have been absent from the forest for a long time and are just
re-establishing themselves). Non-birding highlight was watching a
Brush-tailed Phascogale emerge from a nest box at dusk.
One thing I have noticed is that there appears to be a decline in the number
of times I see White-browed Babblers in the forest. I was wondering if anyone
else had noticed a decline (or increase) in this species in similar areas.
Any info would be gratefully received.
