Here's another question (full of them today, aren't I?). Can anyone out there tell me whether the F1 offspring of Black Duck x Mallards are fertile? I seem to remember that they are (and that was an added concern for the native duck populations, apart from the mallards pinching black duck partners when they should be breeding with other black ducks), but can't find reference to it now. By the way, what other species of native duck do mallards breed with? Thanks and all the best, Tonia.
