Dear Glen,
Please accept my apologies, for my somewhat sarcastic reply to your
question in regard to tissue and blood samples of albatrosses for DNA-DNA
analysis ect.
Basically we are interested to know who it is that is interested in
whether we are collecting blood samples ect. To our knowledge we are the
only people in Australia currently working on the morphormetrics and
genetics of albatrosses occurring in Australian seas, though we are led
to believe that Rosemary Gales is looking into the DNA analysis of birds
caught on Long lines.

We have been collecting blood samples from the majority of birds captured
and released by us in recent times. Amongst other studies we are looking
to build up a data base of DNA of the birds occurring off Wollongong and
Bellambi this is being done in conjunction with morphormetric studies to
determine the providence of the birds, (should funding become available).

Cheers
Lindsay
