I spent a pleasant 40 minutes at the SWC (Newcastle) this morning.
Amongst all the usual birds to be seen there was a large number (circa
twenty) of Nankeen Night Herons, a Swamp Harrier, two Spangled Drongos
and a Black-faced Monarch (1st one for me this season). Before leaving
home I heard my first Koel of the season in our Mulberry tree. If you
want to attract birds to your garden, plant a Mulberry, the Black-faced
Cuckoo-Shrikes, Channel-billed Cuckoos, Olive-backed Orioles, Koels and
Silvereyes all love the fruit.
