I have just returned from a trip to the Great Victoria Desert. The group was
led and fed by Phil and Trisha Maher. The itinerary took in a diversity of
habitat and consequently the bird list was most comprehensive. The final count
was 190 species, but the bird that appeared in big bold letters was the
SCARLET-CHESTED PARROT. We sighted one male, but so good was the sighting, it
will remain with me forever..The group viewed the bird for a minute or more. We
all saw the bird through the scope and though disappointed when a Singing
Honeyeater buzzed him from his perch in a dead acacia we were elated with our
sighting. The locality was 85kms North of Cook S.A.

It would take a full report to do the trip justice, but believe me I have been
on a high since returning home

Thanks Phil and Trisha. But for your skills, I would still be out there looking
and slowly starving to death. When is the next trip?

Denise Moore.

P.S. If anyone would like more details I am only too happy to provide same.
