My family was visiting our small property on the slopes of the mountains
south of Brown Mountain NSW, and I was walking in a small cleared area amid
bush.
My observations of birds and frogs, was interrupted by a HUGE noise, not unlike
a group of motorcycles or a small aircraft flying at tree top level.
I saw about 15 corvids ( in the surprise of the moment I was unable to tell
which species) flying close over me, and the sound was issuing from their
wings!
I have never experienced so loud a sound from bird, and was not alone in my
observations. Members of 2 families were scattered over about 300 metres,
and all gathered to compare notes on the amazing sound and spectacle. The
only 2 species in the area are Corvus mellori - Little Raven and Corvus
coronoides.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this, or read about the
phenomenon?

Puzzling!
