I am researching the status of this rare bittern in Victoria and am keen to
here of
all sightings birdo's have had of the species.

The available information shows Black Bitterns have only been recorded in far
East Gippsland. There is a single record of the species for a one DEGREE
block which may include Victoria, prior to 1900. All other records (ten!) are
post
1977 and of reasonable accuracy for the site to be determined.

If you have any experience with the species in any State I am keen to hear
about
it! Anyone been holidaying at Mallacoota in the past few years?
