More from the land of the under-the-table deal:

A company called Amcor is establishing plantation timbers somewhere in
Gippsland. The area includes some native forest which THEY WANT TO REMOVE
TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE PLANTATIONS!!!! [Take a deep breath before you go
on]

The State Minister for Planning appointed a review panel to look at the
environmental consequences of this clearing. The panel reported that the
clearing should NOT be allowed due to the impact on threatened Flora and
Fauna. End of story? [take a BIG breath this time]

The Planning Minister, Rob McLellan, overturned the panel's decision, and
has given permission for the entire area of native forest to be felled to
make way for the timber plantation.

We used to get all high and mighty when this sort of thing happened in
Brazil - now it's in Victoria.

I urge you to write to anyone you think will take notice - and others who
probably won't, but who might one day start thinking about how much anger
they've generated in the electorate.

Write to the State Premier; to McLellan himself; to Senator
Hill, the federal Environment Minister; to your own representative at
state and federal level. This is yet another instance of McLellan's
bloody-mindedness (or his willingness to favour certain parties??): he
overturned review panel findings for Point Lillias, for the St Kilda Rd
height limit, for other buildings on the Mornington Peninsula, etc etc.
Where will this man stop?
