Bad News, A ringed Northern Gaint Petrel was recently caught by a longline vessel off the South African owned Prince Edward Islands. It was ringed one year ago at Macquarie Island, emphasising the "global" nature of the longlining phenomenon. Even if Australian fisheries are well monitored and legislation is enforced, your birds are still at considerable risk. Sorry to be the bearer of "bad news" Keith ......................................................................
