I'm glad that someone else has begun the thread of 'year in review' because
for the past few months I've been waiting to do this posting?I think I may
at last have something to boast about.
First of all, two 'all of the ...' that I've seen this year:
all four (or five) pardalotes,
all six falcons
Highlights of the year:
--seeing all the Tasmanian endemics in a morning (plus Swift Parrots) in
February, thanks to Murray Lord for showing me around;
--a couple of days later, a Masked Owl, ditto ditto;
--in September, a visit to Sturt National Park, which although it was low on
birds and I missed most things was still a great experience (the Grey Falcon
helped of course);
--also in September, Malleefowl at Hattah, and other Mallee birds;
--in November, sea-watching during the gales off Kioloa and watching the
Shearwaters shearing, plus other sea-birds;
--in December, Phil Maher's Plains Wanderer Weekend, producing excellent
views of the little beasts, and a few good photos, I hope (must get that
film developed).
Next year?on to 500 species, and a good way beyond, I hope.
