to reinforce what john said, birds only sometimes respond to humans, but
rarely exercise the cool & calm option when there's a raptor around.  some
birds which are known nestling predators (kookaburras, currawongs,
corvids) elicit a response when birds are nesting, but less so at other
times (or not at all).
