I endorse Lawrie's sentiments re. the flowers in the Brisbane Ranges.
Last Sunday we too saw most of those on his list, plus donkey
orchids.

Two weeks previously we saw spotted quail-thrushes, including the nest with
two blotchey eggs. Also saw a mistletoe bird, yellow-tufted
honeyeaters, fan-tailed cuckoo, etc. Brown tree-creepers are the
scavengers of the Stony Creek picnic area.

Saw very few koalas, but didn't look very hard. However, in past
years we haven't had to look very hard. We've always taken our
overseas visitors there in the knowledge that they could spot koalas
for themselves.

(Also saw a dead fish which must have been washed downstream from the
Stony Creek reservoir.)
