Dear all,

We're pleased to launch the 2025 BioDCASE challenge! Can you help the
world to monitor whales, birds and other animals, through their sounds?
We're publishing new datasets, and new evaluations, to help you do so!

https://biodcase.github.io/

We invite researchers, students, coders and other teams to take part.

As a satellite of the well-known "DCASE" data challenge, BioDCASE 2025
presents the community with three different tasks that need to be solved
so that we can create machine listening that really helps to monitor
biodiversity.

The three tasks are:
1. Multi-Channel Alignment
2. Supervised detection of strongly-labelled Antarctic blue and fin
whale calls
3. Bioacoustics for Tiny Hardware

With this launch, we provide datasets and full instructions for the
tasks. Teams have until June to submit their solutions, which will be
evaluated and published on a leaderboard. The results will also be
discussed at the BioDCASE workshop on 29th October, as a satellite of
the 2025 DCASE workshop.

For all details, please see
https://biodcase.github.io/

Do you know someone who might like to take part? Please do share this as
appropriate.

Best wishes
Dan Stowell (on behalf of the BioDCASE organising committee)
