A new university course on terrestrial and underwater bioacoustics has been set
at the University of Pavia, Italy. The course is part of the special degree in
"Science of Nature", it offers 4 credits, and it will be held in the 2nd
semester, starting with the academic year 2006-2007.

The course includes aspects of bioacoustics in all zoological classes with a
special focus on marine mammal acoustics, acoustic ecology, acoustical
oceanography, the impact of noise, sound recording and analysis, basic signal
processing techniques, techniques and instruments (microphones, hydrophones,
arrays, sonobuoys, GPS, tags, bottom recorders), and other topics.
