fish vocalisations

 the current set up I use is a pair of stainless steel heavy gauge wires
 attached to an audio cable with crocodile clips and fed into a small mixer.
 scruffy but it works.
 
 one thing that concerns me slightly is that I know this is a very sensitive
 fish. can any of the fishy experts out there confirm that this method in no
 way troubles the creature? in an installation I am putting on very soon the
 fish will be monitored several hours a day for 3 months - though I aim to an
 experienced aquarist tending the fish on a regular basis.
