Subject: WDCS launches Oceans of Noise report
Dear list members
I would like to bring to your attention the first edition of "Oceans
of Noise", a 165 page report from the Whale and Dolphin Conservation
Society (WDCS) that calls for urgent action to reduce noise pollution
in our seas. It highlights the many sources of noise pollution in the
marine environment today and it launches the "WDCS Noise Action Plan"
(on pages 7 and 8 of the report). Marine noise pollution is a
substantive threat to cetaceans but also a highly technical and little
understood problem. We hope that the report will be a useful resource
to those interested in the subject and help to underpin the need for
urgent action at international and national levels.
