I am a PhD candidate at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. I
am in the process of identifying potential thesis topics and funding
opportunities. I am interested in communications/signal processing problems
which promote the well-being and preservation of animals and their
environments. Examples of the type of topics I would be interested in are:
animal communications, or for example, studying the effects of military
sonar on ocean animals and the possibilities of making these devices
harmless to animals, or military efforts to avoid whale/ship collision. If
