Hello Fellow Birders,

As many of you will know, King Island, Tasmania, has a number of critically endangered bird species including the King Island Brown Thornbill and the King Island Scrubtit that are rated 1st and 3rd most likely next bird extinctions in Australia.  Their recovery is being overseen by the Threatened King Island Bird Conservation Action Plan but the on-ground work is being done through the King Island Landcare Group (KILG). This group is raising funds to assist with this conservation effort through on-line and on-ground raffles and auctions in association with the Moonbird Festival that is happening on the island from the 16-23rd of April - this month.

As fellow birders who I know care about the welfare of Australia’s birds it would be wonderful if you could help us by buying raffle tickets or making bids on-line. We have been lucky in acquiring some truly fantastic prizes and opportunities, so please have a look and support us as much as you can.

Many thanks

PS:  The Wings on King bird surveys are being run again between the 27-30th April with the spring surveys planned between the 9th-12th November, 2023.  https://www.birdsofkingisland.com/register We would love any of you to come and join us undertake these surveys - now in their 7th year but you need to plan ahead as flights and accomodation on the island can be hard to get at short notice.
