Might be of interest to some. Last Thursday, 3rd Dec, at Flat Rock, Ballina, far northern NSW, there was an unusual Sanderling, in breeding colours.

Don’t know if a photo that I’ve attached will get thru birding-aus, but you can see a few more photos on my eBird list.

I note, primary moult hasn’t started yet or not active, which I think suggests it’s a youngish bird.

I’ve been back looking for it a few times since, but no further sightings.  Maybe it’ll turn up somewhere further south.

I’ve long been hoping to find a Little Stint in this condition, hopefully one day I’ll get lucky.
