In September 2010, looked for them along the Central Arnhem Highway with Darryel 'Biggles' Binns. We spent approximately one hour searching the road using a home-made CD of the the northern's call but only had success when I used 'playback' of the 'nominate' race with my smartphone. Three birds answered, we were very close to the 20 KMs to Katherine (triangular) road sign.
